This talk consists from two topics. The first half of the session will discuss how a physics simulation can take advantage of a heterogeneous CPU/GPU architecture by showing an example which exploits the single memory space to use both devices efficiently for a simulation. The second half of the session will talks about topics which are essential for real-time destruction such as fracture algorithms.
このトークは2つの題目をカバーします.まず物理シミュレーションがどのようにヘテロジニアスCPU/GPUアーキテクチャを利用できるかを例を示して説明します.この例では同じメモリをCPUとGPU両方から使えることを利用しシミュレーションを効率化しており,リアルタイムデモを行なう予定です.後半ではリアルタイム破壊シミュレーションで使われるフラクチャーアルゴリズム等を説明します.

Takahiro Harada is a researcher in AMD, where he is exploring the possibility of GPU computing but mainly focusing on applications in physics simulation. Before joining AMD, he was engaged in research and development on real-time physics simulation on PCs and game consoles at Havok. Before coming to industry, he was in academics as an assistant professor at the university of Tokyo where he also earned his Ph.D. in engineering.

Erwin Coumans is working on real-time physics simulation for film and game productions as principal engineer at AMD in California. After his study of computer science at Eindhoven University, he has been doing collision detection and physics simulation research for Guerrilla Games in the Netherlands, Havok in Ireland and Sony Computer Entertainment US R&D. Erwin is the main author behind the open source Bullet Physics Library at http://bulletphysics.org.
